Make it Colourful~IN THE SPOTLIGHT Challenge using Rockstar Singer

2015-03-30 Spotlight (banner size)

Happy Monday everyone! I'm back to share my coloring of Rockstar Singer using the current Make It Colourful Challenge "IN THE SPOTLIGHT". There is a video and of course DT Inspiration on the Make it Colourful Blog. I will say that this challenge was a little intimidating to me. I fought it and Zoe had to slap me upside the head to get me out of my shock mode, LOL! However, she gave me the confidence and support to try it, and of course, after it's all said and done I'm glad I pushed myself to give it a go. It was such a mental thing!! But what you have to do is just start coloring and not overthink it!!

Here are some tips I found helpful as I was coloring. The first thing I did was use a pencil to lightly draw an oval around the base of my image along with diagonal lines going up so I had a visual of where the spotlight would be. Then I googled spotlight images to get a feel of how to color the light and dark areas.

2015-03-30 Spotlight
Next I just did my normal coloring of the entire image. On the stage I did lighter browns in the oval and used a darker brown outside the circle. Then I came in with black and grays to do the background. I colored this with a combo of Copics and Spectrum Noir Markers.2015-03-30 Spotlight (full view)
Copics:
Skin: E000, E00, E02, E11
Hair: Black, C7, Vo9, V04, BG78, BG15, G28, YG23
Purple: V01, V04, V09
Teal: BG10, BG13, BG15, BG18
Pink: RV02, RV05, RV09
Black: C3, C5, C7, Black
Stage: E41, E42, E43, E44
Spotlight area: N0, N2, C3
BLACK area: Spectrum Noir (IG5, IG7, IG9, IG10, Black)

Since she's a Rockstar I had to give her some funky hair! It starts off purple, then teal, then ends in green. :)

C.C. Designs Carrot Love!

Howtowhatnot
Welcome to our next installment of How To’s & What Not’s. Each week one of our DT Members creates a post with a how-to tutorial or a what not tip on the C.C. Designs Blog.

Today I'm sharing a tutorial on how I colored the fur on this cute guy called Carrot Love! I just think he's the cutest bunny ever and he's available in the C.C. Design's Store HERE. The sentiment is from AmyR Hopped Up Sentiment Set.

2015-03-06 Carrot Love (full view)
Copics:
Bunny: E41, E42, E43, E44, N0, N2, Blender/ Carrot: YR04, YR07, YR09, G21, G24

First, I covered my image with my lightest color, E41.
2015-03-30 Step 2
Next, I added some shading with E42 and E43.
2015-03-30 Step 3
Then I came in with my darkest color E44 and started adding little small flicks.
2015-03-30 Step 6
To get a better blend, I started adding dots with E43 close to the darker flicks.
2015-03-30 Step 7
Then, I came back in with E42 and E41 and added more dots in the lighter areas.
2015-03-30 Step 8
Finally I added dots with my Colorless Blender to pick up some of the ink. I let it dry and if I needed more color I came back in adding more dots with E41 and E42.
2015-03-30 Step 9
And here's my image all colored up. :)
2015-03-30 Step 10

By DIEzyne Dies NEW RELEASE at C.C. Designs!!

It's finally here!  The second release from By DIEzyne Dies. We are celebrating this weekend on Passionate Paper Creations and Friends Facebook Group and C.C. Designs Facebook Group.
We are kicking everything off with a really big blog hop!
We have the C.C. Designs DT sharing their creativity with the new By DIEzyne Dies. You can find By DIEzyne Dies by clicking HERE.

For my card today I used C.C. Designs Swiss Pixie Angel Wings. She's one of my favorite stamps! I just think she's so beautiful. She's colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

 Spectrum Noir Markers:
Skin: FS1, FS2, FS3, TN3
Teal Blue Dress: BT2, BT4, BT5
Red Hearts: DR3, DR6, DR7
Wings: IG1, IG3, Blender
Hair (Copics): E44, E47, E49
I used several of the By DIEzyne Dies on my 5x7 card: Big Stitched and Pierced Rectangles, Double Circles, Stitched Flags Two, Dotted Wings and Puffy Things, and Stitched Circles. I LOVE these dies!! They are so easy to use and the cuts are clean. I kept the Big Stitched and Pierced Rectangles together and ran them through the Cuttlebug to get several nested frames before I cut them apart and that was the inspiration for this card!! The dps behind the ovals each have a white rectangle frame around them. The sentiment from the AmyR Elegant Valentine Set is cut out using Stitched Flags Two. And that awesome butterfly is from Dotted Wings and Puffy Things (my FAVE)!!
